Brown butter white chocolate Blondies
Updated: Nov 5, 2022
Brown butter is superior. It just IS. Go make these for yourself asap!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk and 1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp maple extract (optional)
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Preheat over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Start by melting your butter over medium heat in a small pot. Using a whisk, continuously whisk the butter for at least 5-7 minutes. Do not leave the butter unattended, it will scorch! The butter will begin to bubble & foam. You will know it's finished when the butter has turned a golden color and smells nutty. I personally think it smells 100% like cookie butter!
Remove from the heat and let it cool.
Once the butter has cooled down to slightly warm, add to a large bowl along with the brown sugar. Whisk until combined.
Next, add vanilla and maple extract followed by egg and egg yolk. Whisk again until well combined.
In the same bowl, add your dry ingredients. Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the wet with a spatula. After the mixture has become one consistency, toss in the white chocolate chips. Fold these in as well, do not overmix.
Place your batter into an 8x8 baking dish lined with parchment paper.
Bake 20-30 minutes! When the edges begin to brown and the middle is set, they are ready! These are meant to be ooey gooey, so if they look a little under done, that's ok. They will continue to set as they cool.
But don't let them cool completely! You have to eat them warm, trust me on this one!
Enjoy :)
