Strawberry hand pies
We all love pie right? Who doesn’t love pie? Especially strawberry pie no less! But, that doesn’t always mean we have time to make it. This is practically a pie in a pinch, and much easier to carry around versus a slice of pie! Also, the whole process takes maybe 30 mins start to finish. Chefs kiss!
ingredients:
1 pre-made refrigerated pie crust
any jam you like! (I had homemade strawberry on hand) 1 egg
1 tbsp all purpose flour
4 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp milk or heavy cream
sprinkles
preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
lightly flour a clean surface to roll out your dough. Once your doll has been rolled, use a knife or pizza cutter to cut out squares for your pie top and bottom. fill one piece of your square dough with about one tablespoon of filling. place your top piece on and seal with a fork.
Prepare your egg wash by adding your egg and 1 tbsp of water to a bowl & stir. brush the tops of each hand pie with your egg wash. Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the dough becomes browned and flaky on top.
while your pies are cooking, prepare your icing mixture by combining your powdered sugar and milk mixture. Adding food coloring if desired!
remove your pies from the oven to cool slightly. once these delicious little babies have cooled, ice generously and top with sprinkles. 🎉
